Heel Cap  Change text size for readability...  Print This Page
00:27The Heel Cap is a decorative piece of contrasting material, usually wood such as ebony or rosewood, that covers the flat bottom of the heel of a banjo or guitar neck.

There's no structural need for a Heel Cap, but the neck would look less complete without something to "finish off" that portion of the neck. Heel Caps can add to the visual appeal of an acoustic instrument.
