Bouts  noun \ˈbau̇ts\  Change text size for readability...  Print This Page
00:19"Bouts" are the upper or lower outside curve of a guitar or other instrument body, specifically the "upper bout" and "lower bout."

The bout is distinct from the waist, which curves inward near the middle of the instrument's body. The area just above the upper bout near the neck is sometimes called the "shoulder."
